🗞️ Stories this week

Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum Purchases Hard Rock Cafe 🎸

Mark Weber / The Daily Memphian

After closing last Summer, the Hard Rock Cafe is coming back to life again with the Memphis music scene.

The Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum, started 24 years ago, bought the building for $5 million and will move into the building at 126 Beale Street. They will host a music center with live shows and rehearsal space for musicians. Along with the museum, the Memphis Music Hall of Fame will still be housed in the same building with an entrance on Second Street.

Priscilla Presley was there for the announcement and had high praise for the upcoming museum…

“The Rock ‘n’’ Soul Museum on Beale Street is going to revitalize our Memphis entertainment district and make it fun and safe again.”

Memphis Airport getting $665 million upgrade 🛩️

The Memphis Intnl’ Airport is now due for a major facelift as Terry Blue, the new CEO of the Airport, announced that Terminal B is getting a $665 million renovation (and possibly more later on).

*But if you thought this renovation will be done in a year or two, you’re in for a treat. It’s considered the biggest construction job the airport has ever done and will take six to eight years to complete.

Which Memphis area stores are open on Easter? 🐰

Wondering which places will be open this Sunday as you get your last-minute Easter supplies? We got you covered.

  • Most grocery stores will be open this Easter Sunday, except for the Aldi lovers out there.

  • As far as department stores, most will be closed except for Walmart, Home Depot, IKEA, and PetSmart. So if you need to get your Target fix in, make sure to do it before Sunday comes along.

  • Most national restaurants will be open, but make sure to double-check any local restaurants before you head out the door.

“TDOT says I-55 is back open after 2 weeks of repairs. Good luck! 😅”

We posted this on FB and people got a kick out of it.

Our favorite comment from Melissa Jones:

And the new speed limit is 100 mph. 125 if you see a barge approaching. Every man for himself!
